Canadian Disasters: Railways & Ships
In this history course we shall briefly visit some of Canada’s most notorious disasters along railways and our coasts, lakes and rivers. This course is intended to be part of a series which, if they are worthy, will include other categories of disasters in Canada including aircraft, fires, natural disasters and more. In the first session of this first component of the projected series, we will learn of some–among so many–of Canada’s worst and often so tragic shipwrecks. We will range from disasters such as the disappearance of HMS Speedy in Ontario to the sinking of the Empress of Ireland and the strange story of SS Viking in Newfoundland plus several more from coast to coast. In the second session we will learn of train wrecks ranging from one at Baptiste Creek (in Chatham-Kent) to another in the mountains of British Columbia and another in St. Thomas, Ontario plus several more that took so many lives. Class Size: Max 25

SPECIAL NOTE: Proof of being fully vaccinated and proof of ID is required to attend this course.
