Creating A Sacred Space: Healing Gardens
Many of us are familiar with the therapeutic qualities of gardens, but certain gardens stand out as places of personal restoration and inspiration. These special places are known by different names, including healing gardens, tranquility gardens and even sacred spaces. Yet what makes these gardens distinct from other gardens? Why are some gardens simply appreciated in passing while others draw us in as places of comfort, healing and personal recovery? Through this two-part course, we will explore healing gardens, their history, characteristics and benefits, as well as how they can be adapted into our own home landscapes. The word “Garden” is derived from an ancient Persian word for “Paradise”. Should we be surprised? Class Size: Max. 18
