Creating Meaningful Visits for People Living with Dementia
In this course you will learn about the importance of visitors for people living with dementia. This presentation will begin with how to bring in some new ways to start a conversation and end with tips on how to say good-bye. We will address topics such as how to modify activities so that the individual can be successful, what to include in the visits, as well as how we can utilize technology. Participants in this course will learn about the value of a person-centred approach and how to incorporate a person’s past and present in meaningful engagement. We will also discuss visiting approaches during the time of COVID-19. Class Size: Max. 50

Instructors: Tara Seney & Theresa Stoesser
BIO NOTE: Tara is the Education Manager for The Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent. She has been with the Society since 2010. Tara holds numerous certifications in the dementia field, including being a Coach in Gentle Persuasive Approaches. Theresa is with Behaviour Supports Ontario (BSO) as the Erie-St. Clair Regional Education Coordinator. She has been with BSO and the Alzheimer Society of Chatham-Kent since 2018. Theresa is currently studying Behaviour Analysis at a master's level & focuses on behavioural understanding & management in older adults.
